Production & Inventory

BOM Production (Bill of Materials)

What it's for

Businesses that build products from a fixed "recipe" of parts rather than tracking a batch through sequential process stages — e.g., assembling fans from motors and blades, or any product made by combining sub-components. This can also be a multi-level system: raw materials become components, and components become finished products.

How it works

  1. Define a Bill of Materials (BOM): Pick a product (a Component or a Finished Good) and list exactly what it's made from and in what quantities. (e.g., "1 Fan = 1 Motor + 3 Blades," or "1 Motor = 2m Copper Wire + 1 Magnet.")
  2. Produce a Component: Select the component (e.g., Motor), and enter a quantity to produce. Sysvant checks whether you have enough raw material in stock. If not, it tells you exactly what's short and blocks the action. If you do, it deducts the raw materials and adds the finished components to your inventory — with an accurate cost per unit calculated from what was actually consumed.
  3. Assemble a Finished Good: Same idea, one level up. Select the finished product (e.g., Fan), enter a quantity, and Sysvant checks and deducts the required components (not raw materials). It will block the action with a clear error if you're short on any component.

This system supports any number of levels (raw material → component → component → finished good) without any special configuration; you just define BOMs at each level.

Note: A business uses either Stage-Based Production or BOM Production, based on what's set during onboarding — not both at once, since they represent fundamentally different workflows.
